Welcome to the Supper Club by Nosey Palate!

The Supper Club is a fine dining experience where chefs and restaurants curate menus and prepare courses for you, right on the spot! You can enjoy wine pairings, cocktails and live entertainment during this dinner series.

Chef Kurt Evans will prepare 5 Black American Chinese courses.

Come and join us for this installment and meet other food lovers. You’ll have the opportunity to hear the award-winning Chef Kurt tell his story and learn about the inspiration behind each meal he prepares.

ABOUT THE CHEF – Kurt Evans 

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Kurt found his culinary spark cooking southern style dishes, alongside his grandmothers as a child. Since then, he’s gone on to hone his skills in some of Philadelphia’s most esteemed kitchens. In 2017, Kurt decided to use his culinary skills to rally his community around ending mass incarceration.

Chef and activist Kurt Evans’s work centers around criminal justice reform in America. Through his ground-breaking End Mass Incarceration (EMI) dining series, Evans orchestrates dinners themed around the criminal justice system. By combining his revolutionary restaurant business model with his community-focused activism, Evans is driving change across the culinary landscape and far beyond.

In 2021, Evans was named a “Rising Talent” finalists from The Art Of Plating, a “Champion of Change” World’s 50 Best Restaurants by San Pellegrino. In 2022, Kurt was named Whitney M Young Powerbroker, and Community Leader by PACDC (Philadelphia Association of Community Development Corporations). He has been featured in Food & Wine, Bon Appétit, Good Morning America, and Eater.


ABOUT THE MUSICIAN – Margel Overton

Margel Overton has been a Philly staple in the music scene for what is approaching two decades. You will have heard him performing in various reggae, soul, hip hop and jazz bands with a variety of talented artists over the years. Margel has written music for commercials, films, dance companies, and artists while also forming two bands, Sela and The Plush Lords. His performance highlights include performing with Dice Raw and Leonard Hubbard of The Roots, Doug Grisby of the Tina Marie Band, The Village People, Lil’ B, Miguel, Kindred and Family Soul and dozens of other artists from across the world.
While he is performing, Margel also serves as an educator in New York and Philadelphia. He’s been a private piano instructor for various music schools, has served as a Music Programs Coordinator for Education Works, and worked as a Teaching Artist for The Urban Arts Partnership – the largest arts nonprofit in the country. For several years, he was a Music Director for Boys Latin Charter School, but has since joined Knowledge Is Power Program (KIPP) to enrich their music department
